Liz Dowler

Professor Liz Dowler is a public health nutritionist and a Professor in the Sociology Department at the University of Warwick.

Her research is on rights based approaches to addressing food and poverty/inequality.  She worked in the global south for about 20 years when at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. She now work mostly on European and North America problems.

As well as teaching on undergraduate courses at Warwick on the politics of food and nutrition, and on contemporary health issues, she also teaches at a postgraduate level on critical issues in national and international food policy.

She was a member of the Defra Council of Food Policy Advisers. She took  part in the scenario planning exercise organised by the Food Ethics Council.

Professor Dowler was one of the first group of people to participate in the New Optimists Forum.
