Chris Elliott of the Elliott Review – why Birmingham can make a difference
“I’ve had 200 meetings so far – this has been the most interesting.” was what Professor Chris Elliot told the room at the end of today’s New Optimist session on the Elliot Review. We’d spent the day talking about how a major city can tackle food crime.
The clip below is worth listening to as a whole but starts about half way though when Chris Elliot talks about the gap in our food safety
One of the key things is how much Birmingham could take a lead by understanding the gaps in keeping our food networks safe and true and figuring out how to close those gaps. This is partly about what’s good for the city and the people who live here and also because of the size of the city. Because there’s over a million brummies then ensuring our food safety will also involve cracking national and international problems with the supply network.Next we will share what the room talked about with Chris and he will take this and every other concersation he’s had and “lock himself in a dark room” to write the final report.
